"Exercise in a pill" is how scientists are describing a remarkable discovery where they used drugs to switch on genetic triggers that are normally only activated by exercise, to dramatically increase endurance in mice and confer other related benefits. The study is published in the 31st July advanced online edition of Cell and is the work of researchers at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, La Jolla, California, and other colleagues.
