Jordyn Tate added an entry about lose weight : Yet I have lost 5 pounds! I know that sounds unhealthy, but I did nothing unheathy. I have been eating between 1,400 and 1,800 calories daily. I exercise at least twice a day. Nothing wrong here. So I suppose it’s from altering my life and eating habits right away. I’m glad though. :) It has motivated me to keep continuing. out of shape

TheMightyGiant added an entry about lose weight : today was the first time I excersised in a while verdict: totally out of shape. It;s kind of embaracin since just about 6 months ago I was well over average when it comes to shape and fitness performance. But I’m sticking with this until I lose the extra inches even if it takes me longer than I wanted, which was three months. I got a new tip about losing weight, the one of never eating after 8pm. I have not weighed myself yet but I sure hope I’ve lost at least a pound or two. The amaizing thing was that i forgot how much energy you get out of physical excercise, I’ve worked out more than 6 hours ago and I still feel wiered. And a lil’ more motivated. I’ve also changed my diet, it now uncludes no junk food and no dairy on top of the vegetarien diet I’ve had for over three years now. I drink at least a liter and a half of water a day also. And I’m going to check a gym out tomorow. I hope to get a good deal.

Tilapia and Green-Tea Udon Noodles - Feast Your Eyes

Filed under: Feast Your Eyes , Features Photo: ilmungo, Flickr Nothing on this plate is intensely complicated to make, yet everything has wonderfully layered and nuanced flavors. Soy-maple glaze gives a salty-sweet boost to mild tilapia, and a side of udon noodles keep the Asian riff going, especially when tossed with a spicy yuzu dressing. (Yuzu is a tangy, aromatic Japanese citrus fruit; you don't often see it fresh here in the U.S., but you can buy the bottled juice in Asian markets and some health food stores.) The author used a recipe from Gourmet as his creative springboard but didn't worry about following the instructions to the letter. We encourage you to follow his lead whenever you encounter an interesting recipe: Play with flavor combinations, swap out ingredients, change the cooking method, experiment and explore. Make it your own. Become a member of the Slashfood Flickr pool to get a shot of having your photos featured in Feast Your Eyes.

Top 5 Super Bowl Food Ads

Filed under: Television/Film , Events Photo: Snickers Animals. Babies. Animals acting like people. People acting like animals and babies. And light beer. Lots and lots of light beer. It's the simple things that get us buying again -- and few things come simpler than Super Bowl ads. Sure, all the usual themes were there: Men feeling dominated by work/women/the family pet? Drink some Bud Light! Drive a Dodge! Kids/arrested-adolescent men looking for some escapism? Jake Gyllenhaal/Russell Crowe/EA Games can help. Women ... okay, there was really very little in the spots aired last night for women, unless they wanted to buy some Dove male body wash for their stinky, unkempt mates, or, in an ad that just missed our list, buy a rejuvenating Snickers for their anemic, Betty White-esque boyfriends . If there was a new, recession-friendly theme last night, it was bargain meals from two big chains: One being Taco Bell , whose $5 meal pack was touted by an intentionally flat Charles Barkley -- at least, we hope it was intentional. The other, well, was by far the most irrationally funny moment of the evening -- we'll save that for a little later. Drumroll, please, for our top 5 food-related Super Bowl ads, after the jump... Mini Red Velvet Cheesecake

Filed under: The Skinny Chef , Features Photo: Jennifer Iserloh, The Skinny Chef I'm fascinated by traditional recipes that get passed down from one generation to the next. Red velvet cake is one of those recipes. The moist, rich cake is historically made with lots of red artificial food coloring and topped with delicious, but highly caloric cream-cheese frosting. I love the idea of updating it in the form of a healthier, mini-cheesecake. I've used canned beets to achieve the red velvet color and reduced-fat cream cheese and sour cream to cut the richness. These make great one-bite wonders for Valentine's Day , or any time you want to entertain. Find the recipe for these lite delights after the jump. Continue reading Mini Red Velvet Cheesecake

In Obesity Battle, FDA Weighs Update to Serving Sizes

Filed under: Health & Medical jupiterimages Would you still eat six Double Stuf Oreos if you knew that you had just eaten three servings worth? In an effort to help Americans make healthier food choices, the FDA wants serving sizes on foods like ice cream, breakfast cereals, chips and cookies to reflect how much people actually eat, the New York Times reported. "If you put on a meaningful portion size, it would scare a lot of people," Barry Popkin, a nutrition professor at the University of North Carolina, told the Times. "They would see, 'I'm going to get 300 calories from that, or 500 calories'." Continue reading In Obesity Battle, FDA Weighs Update to Serving Sizes
