I wanna lose about 15 – 20 more pounds. I’m gonna excercise for 30 minutes a day. I like kick boxing and stretching.

Small, But Significant Progress

Jordyn Tate added an entry about lose weight : Since I had track conditioning last night before I actually decided to start losing weight, I came up with an inch taken off of my waist and a 2% decrease in my body fat. I let that motivate me throughout the day, and now it is the end of the day. The only bad thing that happened today was that I fell asleep in my Automotive Mechanics class because I got up at 3 AM. I’m off to shower, paint my nails for the dance on Saturday, and then go to sleep. I’m linking my FitDay Journal so you guys can see what I ate and how many calories I burned doing certain activities. I hope to continue this success, as it has made me so happy already! :D

terrible

elizara added an entry about lose weight : i’ve been in a terrible state. i remembered that i need 1,800 calories per week of exercise in order to lose weight… and probably in order to be sane as well. my life feels all wrong right now. and i am gaining and gaining weight, because i’m in such a bad mood all the time. food is my only pleasure. i am going to focus on the exercise. i can’t even sleep. i regularly wake up at 4 a.m. i am not functioning. i’m in such a state that i alienate people with my pessimism. it’s 7 a.m. and i’m going to the gym.

prove_yourself added an entry about lose weight : i would really like to lose weight because i’m at a very transitional stage in my life. i recently ended a 2 year relationship with a person i still love. i’m also undergoing therapy for depression and anxiety. and just last year, i overcame an eating disorder that i’ve had for 7 years. i’ve also recently started taking a birth control pill that my body is still not used to. these among other things have made me very stressed. needless to say, i’m very unhappy with myself and the way i look right now. i feel depressed, and too unmotivated and self-conscious to move on from this emotionally unhealthy relationship. i’d say i weigh about 140 right now. my ideal would be around 120 because i am only 5’4’’. i’ve never been happy with the way i looked and my weight is always fluctuating. right now it is very difficult because my social life has suffered as a result of the falling-out i had. i’m making new friends, but i’m not as occupied with them as i had been with him. i haven’t been eating in tremendous quantities, but i may be doing it more than i need to. also, it’s been really hard to exercise due to motivational reasons. i have to force myself to do everything, and i always feel fatigued and crippled with depression. anyway, i’ve been looking at pictures of myself that made me realize i’m not taking the best care of myself. i’m only 19 and i’m not living my life the way i want to. now that i’ve overcome bulimia, i want to start losing weight the healthy way and rid myself of any emotional baggage along the way.

Homemade Hot Chocolate - Feast Your Eyes

Filed under: Feast Your Eyes Photo: h-bomb, Flickr Luxurious and creamy, homemade hot cocoa is a step up from the instant powder we turn to so often during the winter months. Inspired by a main character in a book who ordered hot chocolate at a ski chalet, the author of this recipe heated half and half until it started to boil then poured it over broken pieces of dark chocolate. Chocolate shavings top this decadent brew. While not as "instant" as its counterpart, the velvety texture of the chocolate mixed with the milk are well worth the wait. Become a member of the Slashfood Flickr pool to get a shot of having your photos featured in Feast Your Eyes.

Mobile's Moon Pie Mystery

Filed under: History , Events Photo: Caitlinator, Flickr A Minnesota native is challenging the accepted orthodoxy surrounding Mardi Gras moon pie throws in Mobile, Ala. While the city's Chamber of Commerce insists the tradition is rooted in a group of Mobile mothers' concerns for the safety of their children, who were getting beaned by sharp-edged Cracker Jack boxes, researcher Emily Blejwas counters there's no evidence suggesting a bunch of well-meaning women introduced the soft, round cookies. "I've heard several different stories," says Blejwas, a recent Auburn grad who's writing a book about Alabama food history. But most of the stories have the same punch line, she adds: "Everyone I talked to said, 'After I threw a moon pie, the next year, everybody threw them.' " Younger Mobilians tell the story with a slightly different twist, says Blejwas: "They say, 'For sure, my dad threw the first pie. That's a fact.' " Continue reading Mobile's Moon Pie Mystery
