Endocannabinoids are substances produced by several cells in the body that are very similar to compounds found in cannabis plants. They have been implicated in the development of many effects of a high-fat diet, including many risk factors for type 2 diabetes: obesity, insulin resistance, leptin resistance, and dyslipidemia.
According to an article published on August 6 in a special HIV/AIDS issue of JAMA, a low-dose hormone treatment for human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients who have treatment-related abdominal obesity and growth hormone deficiency resulted in gains in fat and blood pressure measurements. However, Steven Grinspoon, M.D. (Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston) and colleagues also found that the treatment worsened glucose levels.

You could say two is a small number. But that's still two too many for Frederick O. Mueller, Ph.D., professor of exercise and sports science in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The figure represents the number of reported cases of heat stroke deaths among high school level football players in 2007. To Mueller, it also represents two young lives unnecessarily lost: one was 17-years-old; the other, just 16.
Over the last decade, childhood obesity has grown into an epidemic, reflected in soaring rates of type 2 diabetes and recommendations that pediatricians check toddlers for elevated cholesterol. What hasn't been as clear is how early to intervene. daliapena775 added an entry about lose weight : I’ve never been thin but recently I’ve gained a lot of weight and I’ve realized that if I don’t lose it now, while I’m still young the chances of me losing it when I get older are slim, unlike me. Ha..
rgioc added an entry about lose weight : So last night, I was a major kid and had potato frazzles and chicken dinosaurs with sweetcorn stuffed in them, lol. There was no food in the house. Then I had the most amazing ice cream called Maxibon which I had totally forgotten exist. Does anyone remember them? And then 2 small kitkat bars. I’m so annoyed at myself. At the moment chocolate is winning the battle, but I need to regroup. I love fruit as a snack so whats wrong with me. I think its in my mind that I need chocolate. Maybe I can make chocolate covered fruit that might be healthier. Here’s hoping! I’m off to work now after 2 weeks off. Don’t wanna go back. On the plus side, my tummy feels flatter, I think its because I’ve been drinking so much water for the past few days. Oh and for the past 4 days I’ve been doing tricep extensions, which are really working. Well I can feel it working. I can’t wait till I get my car then everything will fall into place. Swimming next…
