Study Shows The Power Of Energy Density In Mushrooms

Preliminary research, led by Dr. Lawrence Cheskin, MD, Director of John Hopkins Weight Management Center, suggests increasing intake of low-energy density foods, specifically mushrooms, in place of high-energy-density foods, like lean ground beef, is a strategy for preventing or treating obesity. This is good news for the more than one-third of U.S. adults age 20 and older who are obese, according to the Center for Disease Control.

Surgical Weight Loss Does Not Eliminate Obstructive Sleep Apnea

A study in the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine shows that surgical weight loss results in an improvement of obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), but most patients continue to have moderate to severe OSA one year after undergoing bariatric surgery. .Results of this study suggest that it is the severity of the condition, rather than a patient's presurgical weight, that determines if OSA will be resolved.

Well it has been a whole month since i have been here writing. And since then i have had allot of depression. I got in a fight with someone very near and dear to me, and she told me flat out that i will never lose weight, that i will be this way for the rest of my life. And for some reason it really bothered me. I mean i try and try and nothing has come out of it. I was so angry at her that i actually confronted her. I said “You may think that i’m a loser and i will never reach my goals but i know one day i will lose weight and feel beautiful for once in my life.” And she apologized. She claims that she had said that because she knew it was one of my weak points and she wanted to hurt me. And then there was my best friend Brandon On his birthday i went with him to the springs and when we got back he told me off and now we aren’t really friends anymore. I text him today and asked him if he still hated me. And to my surprise he said no. So i have not followed any diets. I haven’t excersized. I actually have eaten so much because i was so depressed. But i have my turn point. I don’t want to go back to school next year and be the same. I don’t want anyone to say that i have failed. Today i have done my first work out that i have had in a month. Honestly it hurts. But i feel good. Because i ate a good breakfast, and i want to lose weight.

rgioc added an entry about lose weight : For breakfast had 2 weetabix with soya milk, and then forgot about the whole choc thing and had a milk swiss bar from m and s, was so hungry though. And then had lemonade and lemon chicken and mange tout salad sandwich for lunch. For dinner I had fish and chips! Argghhh! And I picked at choc cornflake cakes and spiced olives. I need to get a firm grasp of what I’m eating, its like food is going out of fashion and everything I ate today was from m and s! Except for the olives and the weetabix. Maybe I should work there! I’d be the perfect advert for it. Ha, ha. Tomorrow I need a major cardio and toning session. I’m off work so should be able to. I’ve got my mum’s friend’s hen do in 2 weeks time and we’re staying in a hotel in liverpool. I wanna look fantastic for that night. I shall post my food everyday because that way the embarassment of eating so much rubbish should spur me on. Just so everyone knows, if I don’t post for a few days it means that I’m doing badly.

Today: B-Lucky Charms L-Spaghetti & coke D-Rice crispy treats….... not healthy Yeah…. so I am happy right now. B/L/D- medium frozen freschetta pizza (most the cheese taken off), almost a whole little carton of fudge brownie ben and jerry’s (!!!) and lots of movies in bed not good for the diet, i know…but it was fun :) Total Cals- didn’t even wanna know Water- not enough Exercise- NONE Monday 8/18- 122.6 wow, have no idea how that happened, i ate soooo much this weekend, i mean a LOT more than usual, and my weight was still this?? weeeiiiird, maybe my scale’s wrong or maybe it was cuz i ran this morning, but i really thought it would be more. we’ll see tomorrow if it’s a fluke.

Heather added an entry about lose weight : I had cottage cheese for breakfast at about 9am. I went to school, walked half a mile from the parking deck then ran up 3 flights of stairs. Its the first week of school and all the student parking was taken so when I decided to go to the parking deck I only had 6 min to walk that half a mile to my classes building then run up 3 flights of stairs. I did it. I stayed at school until 5pm. I came home and made some chicken on the stove with a skillet. It was healthy I used no oil or breading. And some tomato soup to go with it. That’s all I have eaten today.

Does anyone had weight loss surg or got the lapband? Im ready to do this . Im 33yrs old and a beautifull woman who is stuck under all this fat. I currently weigh 255 and im 5’6. I love food, and im a gourmet cook as a hobby so I self sabotage all the time. Im also a PMS queen who loves to over eat. I’d like to loose 50 lbs before the year is up and start jogging/running with my teen girls.

BetterTimes added an entry about lose weight : This is on my list too, but wow, you people seem very devoted to this. I actually don’t know how it is to be severely overweight, I’m actually not overweight at all, but I was thinking that losing a few kg’s might be good for self-confidence-reasons. That’s what was going through my head when I added this to my list. I’m far from counting calories, and being all crazy about it. I really don’t mean to step on anyone’s toes here, since I know some people really have a problem with their weight. But still, I think depriving oneself of all good foods is no real way to live. Everything in moderation. And don’t forget, exercising is a must if you want to really lose weight.
