Summer Salads: What About the Mayo?

Just wanted to pass along one of my favorite RECIPE DOCTOR tips for those creamy and popular mayo-drenched salads that seem to typify summer eatin'. Here's the tip: Instead of adding mayonnaise to salad recipes (as called for), use a combination of light mayonnaise and fat free sour cream. This works really well - I've doing it for years. I use the fat free sour cream that comes in the container that looks like a cowhide (Naturally Yours is the brand I believe). It has a subtle flavor so it extends the flavor of the light mayonnaise nicely. You can use 1/3-cup light mayo and 2/3 cup fat free sour cream to replace a cup of regular mayonnaise.

Redlock added an entry about lose weight : I really don’t want this goal to take over my life, but I have a sad feeling it already has. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve never resorted to anything unhealthy to achieve this goal. But the idea of weighing less has been something that has haunted me all my life, even since elementary school. If I pause to consider this, the concept is kind of sad. I have never been considered obese or even really overweight. The most I have ever weighed was 134, which, for my height of 5’2” or 5’3” is just at the edge of acceptable, meaning the weight was not harming my health. But it has always just been a nagging issue revolving about my appearance, my self perception, and confidence. Since I keep getting caught up in it, I think “Why not just lose it then?” But weight loss is so hard, and is a long term goal, not something to be accomplished in a week. I have no one to blame but myself, and I know this. I’m striving to do better =). Hopefully this will help keep me on track.

Day Seven

tc1980 added an entry about lose weight : Another day I don’t feel I did 100% but what can I do except just do better tomorrow …I am also going to go work out soon. I was going to go for a run but it’s raining so I might just do a video for an hour. I took my dog for a long walk earlier but she’s little so it’s not much of a workout. B: Cereal (300) S: Ice Cream Bar…wah (110) L: Turkey Sandwich (plain)(350) D: Baked Potato (plain) 300 (? I’m guessing b/c I don’t know the exact calorie count) S: Ice Cream Bar…wah AGAIN ) (110) =1170
