SkinnyPinny added an entry about lose weight : I have been really good lately. I was shopping with mum and managed to restrain myself from all the chockies and yummy stuff. I have been eating rice cakes and crispbreads which are both amazingly low in cals, and i have been eating a lot of fruit and salad. So yeah, all is going well. Starting tomorrow im going to start and only eat these sorts of foods or dont eat at all! I’m quite proud of myself and i am starting to think i have lost a little bit of weight. I havent looked on scales though seeing as though i dont own any
minxycat added an entry about lose weight : B: 1/2 cup flaxseed cereal and milk L: 1/2 portion penne pasta, rice S: seeds, mean green D: broccoli, tofu, rice S: berries OMG my pants are already getting loose! I don’t plan on replacing them because I love my cords, so I’ll just move the button over as needed. I’m so glad I didn’t let myself get totally out of control like I did years ago, now that was gross. Once I reach my goal I’ll come up with a plan so that I keep my weight down indefinitely. If I get to 125 and still feel like I could lose some more I might rethink my goal weight. Having this site has helped tremendously in keeping me on track. I like knowing that everything that goes into my mouth gets recorded on this site.

elizara added an entry about lose weight : Okay today will be tough… a pizza party. Social anxiety meets with major carb temptation. Last time I was at this restaurant I think I ate three slices. And they are the biggest slices I’ve EVER seen. Okay, this time one slice and one slice only. And then go to the bathroom, write down my feelings, and take a few deep breaths, then come back and pick a soul to engage in conversation. CAN I DO IT ?

Ive finally found a guy that likes travelling and is a bit of a hippie (without looking like one, hahaha). He’s really into health and fitness as well.
Being obese can increase the risk of Alzheimer's Disease by as much as 80 percent, according to a study in the May issue of Obesity Reviews. But it's not just weight gain that poses a risk. People who are underweight also havean elevated risk of dementia, unlike people who are normal weight or overweight.
A new class of anti-obesity drugs that suppresses appetite by blocking cannabinoid receptors in the brain could also suppress the adaptive rewiring of the brain necessary for neural development in children, studies with mice have indicated. One such drug, rimonabant (trade name Acomplia) has been developed by Sanofi-Aventis and is awaiting approval for use in the U.S., and other pharmaceutical companies are developing similar drugs.
Yahoo news is touting the benefits of big hips and butt: "A type of fat that accumulates around the hips and bottom may actually offer some protection against diabetes". Unfortunately the result has only been examined in mice....
Eggs are in the news again. Is it good news this time or bad news? Well--it's both. Yet again, eggs are confusing us all by being nutritious, but associated with certain health risks. According to recent studies, the news looks good if you're a woman trying to avoid breast cancer; not quite so good if you're a middle aged...
The Australian Medical Association rejected a think tank report that labels efforts to prevent obesity and chronic diseases a waste of money. The Centre for Independent Studies claims that there is no convincing evidence that preventative health measures work, and Australia's 40-year track record of public health education campaigns have not achieved outcomes.
A new study suggests that American adults who usually sleep fewer than 6 hours a night are more likely to have poor health habits than those who sleep 7 to 8 hours. The findings also suggest a similar poor pattern of health behaviours for those who usually sleep 9 hours or more. However, the authors were keen to stress that the finding do not prove that too much or too little sleep causes poor health behaviours, or the other way around.
During the week, things can get a little ugly at the Magee house what with two tumultuous teens, a demanding work schedule and after school activities that would make your head spin... So...one of my easiest weeknight dinners that seem to please all members of the family is 5-Minute Chicken Caesar Salad. I buy 4 charbroiled chicken breasts (skinless and boneless) at a deli/grill nearby but you can just as easily shred the meat from a rotisserie chicken you bought at the grocery store (sometimes these are on sale too). The only prep work you have to do is chop the chicken into bite size pieces then layer the following in a big salad-serving bowl:
