On Wednesday, April 9, 2008, a symposium at the American Society for Nutrition's annual meeting at Experimental Biology was held in which noted scientists discussed new infant feeding studies that used methodology such as randomized clinical trials (involving breastfeeding promotion) as well as sibling pairs analysis. These studies may offer new insights into possible associations between infant feeding and health outcomes such as obesity.
"Regular exercise can help slow down the effects of ageing by up to 12 years," The Daily Telegraph reports. The Daily Mail also covers the story. It says that a study has found aerobic exercise, such as jogging, from middle age onwards can slow and "even reverse the decline in muscle power, balance, and co-ordination in later life". The newspapers report that, with age, there is a reduction in "aerobic power".
"Cardio is useless, a waste of time, it eats muscle, it's boring...." The majority of fat loss experts are now swinging away from long slow distance type cardio as part of a weight loss intervention and overall health. In theory (and it would seem in practice, too), the concept of HIIT (High intensity interval training) as a superior method for...

elizara added an entry about lose weight : Two weeks into my diet, I’ve lost five pounds (most of that the first week) and am now cranky. What if I just plateau? Or lose all self-control and reverse and give up? Have to remember my GW and recommended weight: 124. It’s possible! My brother got to his and has stayed there for years, by being really careful about what he eats and exercising hard. I’m always going to have to be careful, because if not I would always be overweight like my other brother. And right now I have to obsess about it a lot because my old habit was just to eat whatever, whenever. It’s just that… I really hope all this effort adds up.
Prostate tumors grew more quickly in mice who exercised than in those who did not, leading to speculation that exercise may increase blood flow to tumors, according to a new study by researchers in the Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center (DCCC) and the Duke Prostate Center."Our study showed that exercise led to significantly greater tumor growth than a more sedentary lifestyle did, in this mouse model," said Lee Jones, Ph.D.

Holiday_By_Mistake added an entry about lose weight : Heya guys, how is everyone today? I would say that i am pretty good. I mean, i broke that 9 stone barrier yesterday (126lbs), and to see 8 stone something on the scales again is very refreshing, cause i havent seen that in such a long time. Im not sure if any of you guys would relate to that, cause you are all much skinnier. But its a milestone that ive reached again. I felt so skinny this morning, you have like, no idea. My collar bones are sticking out properly now, and im starting to see my hip bones again. And when i weighed in at 125.6lbs i was like yaaaay. And i know this sounds odd, its like, my ass doesnt look smaller, but it does feel firmer and its definately more…i dunno, more ‘rounded’ lol.
santoriniplease added an entry about lose weight : i did a bit yesterday and reading up on it again gave me motivation. i was pretty happy but probably really only did about half of the workout. it was soo relaxing i just fell right to sleep afterwards. i really should give it more of an effort so that i can see a change and summer is right around the corner for me. callanetics doesn’t make you lose weight just tones and tightens everything so maybe i should do this in addition to eating better as my exercise (because i know i need to add more). and the denise austin show isn’t on lifetime anymore…what the heck? :/

Heather added an entry about lose weight : I woke up and grabbed 2 chunky chips ahoy cookies. EEK . Then for some protein I had some left over pork tenderloin. Just 2 slices. Not very good. But I just got back from a 2.5 mile bike ride. It took me only 14 min. Hopefully that made up for eating the cookies this morning. My legs are BURNING !!! You can tell I am not used to riding a bike for 2.5 miles!

april19820 added an entry about lose weight : So everyone I got hypnotized on Saturday. It was actually very cool. I was amazed at the process and the feeling. When we started it was 3:20 pm and when came out of it, it was 4:00 pm but it had only felt like 5 minutes. I got hypnotized to help with the weight loss. It was used as a motivation tool. Not sure if it worked but I have gone walking both days since then, and I do fell like I have more energy.
Niel added an entry about lose weight : The machine at the gym says my body fat percentage is down. Yay! Hopefully the scales will agree soon.

Teenage weight management is a difficult area. There is considerable evidence showing that many teenagers choose dangerous behaviors or embark on restrictive diet regimes. Many of these methods backfire - sometimes resulting in weight gain - or even lead the young person into the realm of an eating disorder. There are, however, some positive stories of teens who have managed...
