The neverending battle

Sunshine added an entry about lose weight : Ahhh weight. It seems like most people have an issue with weight, or at least did at one point in their lives. Mine has been a struggle for at least 17 years. I’ve fluctuated between being overweight, underweight, and now, obese. Granted, obese is a misleading term. Those standardized BMI (Body Mass Index) numbers that you see on the walls of doctors offices and even on some scales, don’t take into account different body types. Take, for example, my sister and I. While she is two inches taller than me, a healthy BMI for me will always be higher than hers. The standardized chart doens’t agree. However, the width of my hips and shoulders means that for me to acheive her healthy BMI , would be to look sick. But I digress…

Morning everyone

Pretzel Face added an entry about Lose weight : So I’m back ontrack. As most of you know, I gained back most of the weight I lost, today was the first sign of my weigh going down. I’ve lost 2 lbs since last weigh in. Its slow progress but at least its progress. Yesterday was the first time I didn’t snack after dinner. I still ate some bad foods, but Its all about today now. So Im gonna stay focus and keep with My excercises. So far this week I’ve done Yoga and 30 minute cardio everyday. The cardio is a really light excercise though, so I might step it up a bit by next week.

I was on a healthly role, 4 days in a row, but then I bought a bunch of those low calorie snack packs, and the next day they were all gone =/ But, I’ve had enough now, I’m NOT going to buy packets of low calorie snacks, and just going to concentrate on eating healthily. I started college again yesterday, so that’s good, I’ll have no time to binge.

I have two weeks to go in our biggest loser contest and I need to lose 6 more lbs to get to my goal of 20 lbs in 13 weeks. My problem was that it took me 6 weeks before I lost anything. I have lost 14 lbs in last 5 weeks. My ultimate goal is to lose a total of 14 more lbs.

A little heads up from the next generation of "Emerils" or "Giadas"? The next generation of culinary professionals plans to go "green" and "global" according to a new survey from the International Culinary Schools at the Art Institutes. They surveyed their students across North America and found culinary students want to serve dishes that are more globally diverse and conduct business in a more environmentally sensitive manner. And which ethnic cuisine reigns supreme with this group of culinary students? More than 40 percent of the student participants said they believe Spanish and South American cuisines have the most potential influence on future menus, while more than half said they are most interested in including Italian (68 percent) and French (53 percent) in their professional repertoire. I love all three types but I've got to say I'm with the 68% that answered Italian.
